Built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal,
the Taj Mahal is one of India's most celebrated monuments and
a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its white-marble mausoleum,
symmetrical gardens, intricate inlay work and riverside setting
make it as much an architectural experience as a historic landmark.
